Based on two different norms ITS-G5/DSRC and C-V2X (depending on regions adoption) broadcasting on the 5,9 GHz band, V2X is a promising technology that will bring more safety for all road users. A vehicle equipped with a V2X module can inform directly the other vehicles of its itinerary, by sharing its position, direction, and speed in the surroundings from several hundred meters between vehicles up to 1 km (with infrastructure). This permits to avoid collisions at intersections or because of blind spots and permits also vehicles to “work” together seamlessly, opening the way to autonomous driving. For example, if the vehicle in front of you suddenly brakes, your car will be informed and can also break too. If you are about to overtake a vehicle without a clear visibility, the vehicle could share with you what it sees thanks to its sensor or cameras so you would take the best decision. If you’re about to change of direction and that another road user is in the blind spot of your car, your car will be informed. V2X also allows the vehicles to communicate with the infrastructure and get noticed of various events like: pedestrians crossing the road, emergency vehicles passing on the same itinerary, worksites along the way or just being informed of the duration and status of upcoming traffic lights.

As norms differs depending on your area between DSRC and C-V2X, TITAN developed modules that covers both technologies in each of its V2X modules. Our expertise in connectivity components has also resulted in the development of automotive grade modules that meet the AEC-Q104 standard, with an operating temperature range from -40°c to +85°c. V2X / Car-to-Car communication

This technology is particularly interesting for trucks, as apart from blind spot collisions mentioned before, V2X allows also to practice “trucks platooning”, which would dramatically save fuel for convoys.
